Stop Suffering for Your Art
I was originally going to write a post about the ‘X’ ways to improve your Art through blogging but seriously you don’t need another ‘X’ excuses for inaction, do you?
Instead, I’ve decided to make this a RANT POST. Yes, I’m angry and need to get this out of my head.
[RANT BEGINS NOW…]
You see it really peeves me when I find artists that suffer for their work.
Do you know:-
A writer who writes awesome prose and yet is distracted by a day job she doesn’t love.
A filmmaker who produces great indie films, only in their spare time.
A painter that paints, but then paints over the canvas again because their work is never good enough.
A singer with an angelic voice and yet just sings in the shower.
An inventor of awesome things that just sit in the garage collecting dust.
WHATS STOPPING THEM?
It’s a total waste of your life if you aren’t living life it to the fullest.
Life is short
Life is Short
Life is Short!
Do you get it?
Do you need a near death experience to figure this out?
You are only getting one crack at this life and you’ve hidden talents going to waste. Yes, you are remarkable at something even if you haven’t figured this out yet. Go and find it!
Stopping Wasting Time!
Oh, sure you’ve got bills to pay and children to look after so you can’t possibly lead a rewarding life, can you?
Of course you can, but you might just need to make a few sacrifices along the way. There’s been no better time to make a break from the mundane and mediocrity of your life. The Internet is ready for you.
No longer do you need to get a book deal to become a writer
Print your own book and sell it on Amazon
No longer do you need a movie deal to be a filmmaker
Make it and publish it yourself on Youtube
No longer do you need to die to be a successful painter
Paint and sell your paintings on Etsy
No longer do you need to get a record deal to be a singer
Record it yourself and sell your work on iTunes
No longer do you need a manufacturing contract to make something
Fund it yourself using Kickstarter
So you probably already know this don’t you?
So why haven’t you done it?
It’s mostly likely because of FEAR and SELF-DOUBT but how do you know you’re not good enough? Have you tried?
Let the world decide. If your work isn’t good enough and falls short of remarkable then iterate and make it better.
Only when you try, will you make it happen.
Live your life without regrets.
[RANT ENDS.. – I FEEL MUCH BETTER NOW. THANK-YOU]
So what’s all this got to do with blogging?
Blogging is your start. A blog is just another way to communicate your message. Whatever your special talent, a blog will always compliment your art.
You want to be a writer
Develop your writing habit by starting a blog
You want to be a filmmaker
Showcase you work on your blog
You want to be a painter
Sell your paintings from your blog
You want to be a singer
List your songs and sell them from your blog
You want to make things
Make things and show others how to do the same on your blog
So How do I make Money
A writer uses a blog to promote their books
A filmmaker uses a blog to teach other filmmakers and endorses products
A painter uses a blog to sell her paintings and talk about the passion she has for the art
A singer uses a blog to sell her songs or just asks for donations to support her work
A maker uses her blog to share her passion and sell her products
You see the world is a richer place when people share their unique gift. These people put themselves out there and discovered they could turn their love of art into their lives. They aren’t special, but they are remarkable. You can be remarkable too if you just get started.
Regardless of what your special talent is, you’ll want to attract a crowd and test whether your idea is good enough. A blog can help you do that.
I’m declaring today is ‘STOP SUFFERING FOR YOUR ART DAY’ please share and use the #stopsufferingforyourart hashtag and Take Some Action, TODAY!
